A well knit tale, the story begins with Reshma (vidya) who hails from a small town and dreams of becoming a star. One day before she is to get married, Reshma runs away from home and goes to Madras. It is here she begins her trials for becoming an actress. After lot of obstacles, she finally manages to do a small erotic dance stint for a song. This creates a stir in film industry and producer Selva (rajesh) names her as silk. It is here that Silk meets her favourite star Suriya (naseeruddin) and while he takes the physical pleasures from Silk, he gives her more films and opportunities. While all of them love silk, the director Abraham (emraan) hates her. In no time, Silk becomes a star but soon her success and fame begins to fade and makes her an alcohol addict. How she goes through all this forms the rest of the story.
