Set on the backdrop of a village, the story is about Mylari (shivarajkumar) who is a hot tempered youth and weak in studies. On the other hand, he is deeply in love with Anita (sada), his childhood friend. However, Mylari's father doesn't approve of his son and when Mylari goes to propose to Anita, she doesn't respond out of fear. Her brother intervenes and Mylari is thrown out of his house. He goes to Bangalore with the help of his friend Guru (guruprasad) and joins a newspaper 'Khadga'. The story takes a turn when Mylari comes up with a revolutionary piece of news but then this leads to a threat on the life of Guru and his family members. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
