Vaishali is produced by "Director Shankar & Dil Raju" Combo.  Director Shankar produced "Premisthe" in the past.   "Vaishali" is a whiff of fresh air.  It is a super-natural thriller that is dealt in a realistic way. Debutant director Arivazhagan Venkatachalam comes up with a film of new genre that deals with love, relationship, supernatural elements, investigations and societal nature in typical apartment dwellers. The director has stuck with an innovative narration throughout the movie. He is also technically very sound.

The narrative style, technical wizardry and the brilliant camera work give Vaishali, the real eerie experience.  It is a supernatural crime thriller and is very different from the films we see in Telugu. Although it might be quite confusing for masses, people with a little extra IQ will appreciate director’s efforts.

Cinematography and director’s intelligence are par excellence. The rain and scenes involving water are shown in aesthetic fashion. The way things unfold in the first half is really good. Arivazhagan handles the mystery and investigation very well, while he deftly incorporates the flashback scenes into the narrative as well.

Sindhu Menon does a fantastic job in the title role which is bound to attract lot of sympathy. Saranya Mohan played the role of Sindhu’s sister and she is efficient. Hero Adhi impresses while playing the suave cop.

  • Director Arivazhagan is brilliant with the direction part. He is also superb in mixing crime and romantic threads in a wonderful way.
  • Manoj Paramahamsa’s (Ye Maya Chesave fame) cinematography is of top-rate. He maintained uniform texture for the entire movie.
  • Thaman's Music (both songs and background music) is suave and technically brilliant.
  • The First Half - Vaishali is an absolute cracker of a ride especially in the first half. It is breathtaking and engaging one hour in which the director cleverly interlaced the present and past.

Director Shankar’s sharp acumen in supporting quality content comes to the fore once again in Vaishali directed by debutant Arivazhagan. Arivazhagan has succeeded in sustaining the interest of the audience. It is hard to believe that this is the first outing of Arivazhagan who has neatly crafted this thrill caper.
