All three actors Emraan, Vidya and Rajkummar try really hard to shoulder this decrepit story but except for a few scenes where they show their full worth, fail in making up for the shoddy direction. Mohit Suri who has aced in at least the music department of the film falters even in getting the melodies working for the masses.

To sum it up, Humari Adhuri Kahani stands true to the filmmaker's attempt at this film. It's nothing but a half baked, empty film with gigantic proportions of cheesiness!Things turn up post the interval when Hari decides to finally make an entry back in Vasudha's life only to wreck havoc in Vasudha and Aarav's love life. Do the lovers meet or not? You've got to watch if you bother to know.

Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan, Mohit Suri, Mahesh Bhatt, a romantic-tragedy for a story - Humari Adhuri Kahani (HAK) has all going for it to make for a typical Vishesh Films fare that appeals to the masses. But does it cast its spell? We tell you!

Vasudha (Vidya Balan) is a florist who works at The Palace hotel owned by hotelier Aarav Ruparel (Emraan Hashmi) who may be a hotshot in professional life but has been battling with demons of a tragic past in his personal life. He takes an instant liking to the broken Vasudha, a mother of a 5 year old child, who has been battling her own issues of a husband Hari (Rajkummar Rao) who has been declared a terrorist. Aarav starts seeking happiness in saving the damsel in distress while falling in love with her all at the same time. Vasudha too starts eventually falling for his fancy gestures. Some songs follow amidst shots of the desserts of Dubai, snowfall of Shimla and what not.

Remember scenes in films where the hero and heroine are out to watch a film and you are shown a TV serial-ish cheesy makeshift movie on a theater screen? Humari Adhuri Kahani is that gargantuan dramedy! With paltry attempt for scripting and screenplay, sketchy charactersketch and desperate attempts of acting to pull off a stagey story earnestly, HAK oscillates between yawn fest and public mockery. What takes the cake in a battle for being the worst are the dialogues. If you follow Mr. Mahesh Bhatt's overtly flowery description of what HAK is about (or so it appeared to him on papers) you'd know that he may have had a major part to play in the excessively metaphorical and poetic dialogues which are far removed from the normal way of conversing.
