Here comes a film determined to make you laugh.  The backdrop (cricket) is just a pretext. It is all about fun and fun alone. Debutant director Yuvaraj obviously wants to make the audience laugh and he succeeds to a large extent.

Two local cricket teams in a village vying for honours – the love of a girl at stake – is what the story of ‘Potta Potti’ is all about. The tale of clash that erupts between two teams to win the love of a girl has been narrated in an interesting manner.

The story kicks off in a picturesque village, which appears green with all those trees, shrubs, plants, etc.  Two locals, Kodaivaanan (R. Sivam) and Kolaivaanan (Umar) have a girl Ranjitham (newcomer Harini) to fight for.  While Kolaivaanan is more violent of the two and indulges in violent activities, Kodaivaanan is a happy, go-free who wanders the village with no specific aim to strive for. He has an associate called Avatharam (‘Avatar’ Ganesh), while Harichandran (Mayilsamy), a fake coach joins hands with Kolaivaanan.

Maybe to avoid both of them, Ranjitham’s father approves the idea of playing cricket match to decide the bride groom. The two guys, who have never touched a cricket bat all their lives, go on to learn the nuances of the game.

Kodaivaanan team gets the services of none other than the former test player Sadagopan Ramesh. They spot him going through their village and captivate him by intimidating. The twist comes in the form of the girl’s love for Sadagopan.
