Director Vishnuvardhan’s ‘Gayam’ is one of the best Telugu movies to see the light of the day in recent times. Kudos to the director for unspooling a gripping expose – shorn of melodrama – on crime and criminals. Its underlying message is relevant too: crime never pays. Apart from Vishnuvardhan's directorial excellence, ‘Gayam’ is enriched by top-class performance from the protagonists, slick editing and brilliant camera work. The technicians have combined to make it a memorable movie.

A gripping crime movie crafted by a MASTER craftsman. Eminently watchable.

‘Gayam’ affords us a rich glimpse into the murky world of crime peopled by hired killers and the woes of slum dwellers where crime thrives out of sheer compulsions of life. .

Bharath as the deaf-mute Shiva does a better job. His is a more difficult role to interpret. Bharath holds the centre-stage with a powerful portrayal of the likes and dislikes of a man who cannot communicate. His expressive eyes convey myriad emotions in an eloquent manner.

Arya is stand out as the emotionless Koti. His brooding eyes give the right perspective to a tough-as-nails killer. Arya exudes a body language and mannerism of a hired killer with gusto.

Synopsis: The story begins around Koti (Arya) and Siva (Bharath), the quintessential back street boys, the hatchet men of Swami (Cochin Haneefa). Koti is an unblinking man with nary a feeling for life. Siva, deaf and dumb, is equally intrepid. But he has a heart ticking beneath the dark, dire exterior. Killing is their life. But life arrives in the life, so to speak, in the form of Saroja (Padmapriya) and Sandhya (Pooja). The former falls for Koti's machismo while the latter has a thing for the hidden softness of Siva. When Koti and Siva set out to bump off a political leader (Santhanabharathy), things come to head and leads to a violent and a stunning denouement.

Wow!!! What a movie boss!! Full tight screen play by VishnuVardhan. Sometimes I feel jealous of Tamil audience as they are able to watch more better movies than Telugu audience. Sorry my dear Madras friends. But really enjoyed the thrill of drama. The technical aspects of the film are fantastic. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is trendy especially the song \"Emaindo Emo\". The quality of the DVD and DTS make it even more worth watching!!
